Deon Meyer, né en 1958, est considéré comme l’un des auteurs de romans policiers les plus célèbres d’Afrique du Sud. Il vit à Melkbosstrand avec sa femme et ses quatre enfants. « Le cœur du chasseur » a reçu le prix de prose ATKV, un prix littéraire sud-africain très convoité.
